These mobiles are made with sheet metal, some of them painted and some of them plain metal. They are, in that sense, classic mid-century modern mobiles along the lines of Alexander Calder‘s work, with two differences. One, many of them utilize swivels which allow the parts to rotate full circle independently from each other. Conventional mobiles were mostly made with hook-into-loop connections which restricts movement to some extend. And two, I’d like to think these mobiles have an original element of contemporary design to them. Some of the ideas are quite original I think, at least I haven’t come across any similar ones yet.
