Acrylic Glass Mobiles

These mobiles are made with transparent acrylic glass, a type of plastic that looks like glass but does not break. It’s also known as Plexiglas, which is actually the trademark of the first company that brought it onto the market in 1933, and has since been sold under many other names such as Acrylite, Lucite and Perspex.

Each element (one acrylic glass circle plus one attached wire) in these mobiles can rotate independently full circle. They create moving colored circles on the floor, wall or ceiling when a spotlight is pointed at them. Many of them are only 12 inches (31 cm) tall which makes them ideal for standard 8 foot (2.4 meter) ceilings.
